This Privacy Policy explains how CaptureWorks B.V. ("CaptureWorks", "we", "us") handles your personal data when you are filmed by one of our camera systems at a partner venue, when you view or buy a video through our website, and when you otherwise interact with us. We have written it in plain language because we want you to actually read it. The short version: we film short ride videos at entertainment venues, we delete them automatically if you don't buy them, and we don't track you around the internet.
1. Who we are
CaptureWorks B.V. is a Dutch company that operates automated dual-camera video capture systems at entertainment venues such as go-kart tracks, theme parks and bowling centers. Guests can view a preview of their video via a QR code or short link and purchase it through our online checkout.
- Company: CaptureWorks B.V.
- Address: Van de Reijtstraat 62, 4814 NE Breda, the Netherlands
- Chamber of Commerce (KvK): 95726527
- VAT number: NL867262916B01
- Privacy contact: support@captureworks.eu
For the video capture and sale service described in this policy, CaptureWorks acts as the controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer — we are a small company and are not required to — but support@captureworks.eu reaches the people responsible for privacy directly.
2. The short version
- We record short videos of guests during rides and activities at partner venues. Venues display on-site signage so you know filming takes place.
- People who are not the subject of a recording — bystanders and people in the background — are automatically blurred by our processing pipeline.
- Videos you don't buy are deleted automatically after 7 days.
- If you buy a video, it stays available to stream and download for up to 7 days after your ride — download your copy to keep it forever. We keep transaction records for 7 years because Dutch tax law requires it.
- Payments are handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card number.
- Our website uses no tracking cookies, no analytics and no advertising technology. The only thing stored in your browser is your shopping basket.
- You can object to processing, ask for deletion, and exercise all other GDPR rights by emailing support@captureworks.eu. The fastest route for footage deletion is described on our GDPR & Data Requests page.
3. What personal data we process
3.1 Video footage
Our camera systems record video of guests during a ride or activity. This footage is personal data: it shows you, and it may incidentally show other riders or bystanders in the background. The cameras film fixed, short segments tied to the ride or activity — they are not surveillance cameras and we do not use them to monitor the venue.
Recorded footage is handled by our automated processing pipeline, which is designed to automatically detect and blur (anonymize) people who are not the subject of the recording — bystanders and people in the background. This anonymization is applied automatically, with no human review: in normal operation, nobody at CaptureWorks watches your footage. Our staff access footage only when needed to handle a support issue or a data request. No automated system is perfect — if you spot yourself identifiable in someone else's video despite the blurring, contact us and we will deal with it; the bystander section of our GDPR & Data Requests page describes the fastest route.
3.2 Contact details
When you buy a video, we ask for your email address so we can send your receipt and the link to stream or download your video. We do not require an account.
3.3 Transaction data
When you pay, our payment provider Stripe processes your payment details. CaptureWorks receives confirmation of the payment and basic transaction information (amount, time, payment status, the video purchased). We never receive or store your full card number.
3.4 Technical and log data
Like almost every website, our servers and infrastructure providers record technical data such as your IP address, browser type (user agent) and request timestamps. We use this solely to operate the service securely — for example to detect abuse, debug problems and prevent fraud.
3.5 Shopping basket (localStorage)
If you add videos to your shopping basket, we store the basket contents in your browser's localStorage. This is purely functional: it stays on your device, it is not used to identify or track you, and we do not read it for any other purpose. Our website uses no tracking cookies, no analytics tools and no advertising technology.
4. Why we process your data, and on what legal basis
The GDPR requires a legal basis for every processing activity. Ours are:
- Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — for capturing ride footage, generating previews and making them briefly available for purchase. Our legitimate interest is offering guests a memento of their visit, which is the core of our service and the reason venues partner with us. We keep the impact on you as small as possible: footage that is not purchased is deleted automatically after 7 days, people who are not the subject of a recording are automatically blurred by our processing pipeline, processing is automated end-to-end so that in normal operation no human views your footage, previews are only reachable via the QR code or short link tied to your session, venues display signage informing you that recording takes place, and you can object to the processing or request earlier deletion at any time (see sections 8 and 9).
- Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — when you buy a video, we process your email address, the purchased video and delivery data to complete the purchase, take payment and deliver your video.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR) — we retain transaction and bookkeeping records for 7 years to comply with Dutch fiscal law.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) — we would rely on consent for things like marketing emails. We currently send no marketing communications, so we do not ask for this consent. If that ever changes, it will be strictly opt-in and you will be able to withdraw consent at any time.
5. Video capture at partner venues — who does what
Our camera systems are installed at venues operated by our partners. CaptureWorks is the controller for the recording, preview and sale of ride videos: we decide how the cameras work, how long footage is kept and how it is sold. Partner venues inform guests on site — through clearly visible signage at or near the ride or activity — that video recording takes place.
The specific arrangements between CaptureWorks and individual venues may vary; details about the arrangement at a particular venue are available on request via support@captureworks.eu.
People in the background of a recording are automatically anonymized: our processing pipeline is designed to detect and blur anyone who is not the subject of the video (see section 3.1). If you nonetheless appear identifiable in the background of someone else's video and want it removed, contact us — section 8 explains how, and the bystander section of our GDPR & Data Requests page describes the fastest route.
6. How long we keep your data
- Unpurchased footage and previews: deleted automatically after 7 days. No action needed from you.
- Purchased videos: available to stream and download for up to 7 days after your ride (the same window as unpurchased footage), then permanently deleted from our systems. Your downloaded copy is yours to keep.
- Transaction records: kept for 7 years, as required by Dutch fiscal retention law (administratieplicht).
- Email correspondence and support requests: kept as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards to deal with follow-up questions.
- Technical logs: kept for a short, rolling period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or anonymised.
7. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers (processors) that help us run the service:
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles your payment details under its own strict security and regulatory obligations; we never store card numbers.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery and edge services for our website and video delivery.
- Resend — transactional email. Your receipts and video links are sent from videos@captureworks.eu via Resend.
Each of these providers processes data on our instructions under a data processing agreement. We may also disclose data where the law requires it (for example to tax authorities).
7.1 International transfers
These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards: the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, as applicable. You can request more information about these safeguards via support@captureworks.eu.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Rectify data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten") — including asking us to delete footage of you before the automatic deletion deadline;
- Restrict processing in certain situations;
- Receive a copy of data you provided to us in a portable format (data portability);
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest. This matters here: the capture and preview of ride footage relies on legitimate interest, so you can object to your footage being processed at all. If you object, we will delete your footage unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to keep it — which, in practice, for an unpurchased ride video, we will not;
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent (currently none).
To exercise any of these rights, email support@captureworks.eu. We will respond within one month. We may ask you to verify your identity or provide details (such as the venue, date and approximate time of your ride) so we can locate the right footage. For the fastest way to get your footage deleted, see our GDPR & Data Requests page.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data or your request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first, but you are not required to contact us before complaining.
9. Children
Partner venues may admit minors, so our systems may record children taking part in rides and activities. Videos of minors are purchased by parents or guardians, not by children themselves. Parents and guardians may request deletion of footage of their child at any time via support@captureworks.eu, and the automatic deletion of unpurchased footage after 7 days applies to everyone, children included.
10. Security
We protect your data with measures appropriate to a service of our size and nature: encryption of data in transit, access controls limiting who can reach footage and customer data, and EU-based infrastructure where possible. No online service can promise absolute security, but we design our systems so that footage lives in as few places, for as short a time, as the service allows.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when our service or the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when the current version took effect. For significant changes we will provide a more prominent notice on our website. For the terms that apply to purchases, see our Terms of Service.
12. Contact
Questions, requests or concerns about your personal data? Email support@captureworks.eu — this is our privacy contact and reaches the people responsible for data protection at CaptureWorks B.V., Van de Reijtstraat 62, 4814 NE Breda, the Netherlands.
